I am trying to get a Gary Moore sound out of my les paul so i read the wikipedia article on him and it said that the magnet in his neck pickup had been reversed. I would like to do this to my own pickup and I was wondering if it was just as easy as removing the pickup and rotating it and would there be any harmful effects.

Rotating the pick- up will not give You the out of phase sound You must first remove the metal cover turn the pick up over and loosen the 4 screws holding the bobbins, then have a look which end the wires are joined push andslide the magnet out turn it 180 degrees marking front with felt tip incase You want to put it back in phase later slide the magnet back in tighten screws and replace cover Iown a 2001 Gary Moore Les Paul i tried it sounds spot on like the Peter Green Guitar [only problem is You will loose the in phase tone ] good luck Gramop
