Hey Folks!

Heres a quick song I did with my new 8 track recorder and my DR-880 drum machine. The mix was a "first taker" without Mastering the thing. Drums might be a wee bit too high - but it still jams.

I call it "Lord Metal"

Please have a listen and tell me what you think ok?

Thanks!

That sounded very cool, PJ, nice laid tracks and playing. That drum machine sure sounds good, I´ve been thinking about getting one too. :thumb:

Thanks for listening everyone!

There's 6 tracks going here - 2 for the drums - 2 for the one lead part - and 2 for the other lead part. The lead parts were done seperatly. Then I bounced the six tracks down to 2 and made the MP3. The spacy sounding lead is panned hard left and hard right - the other lead is panned left 40 and right 40.

On the whole I'm still learning how to run the new machines and this track was like a primer for me. I called it "Lord Metal" because the song sort of reminded me of a huge metal robot breaking out of buliding or something.

Great job there Pj.:icon_thum I'm seriously thinkin about picking one of these up. I spent about an hour today at the music store messin about with it. I love the features and the sound of the thing.
Thank you for listening IbanezLover!

A couple of friends told me my little song there sounds kinda like heavy metal belly dancing music. Heheh, what a concept!

Yeah if you get the 880 your whole world will change for the better. I'm so tempted to string some of the factory presets together and make a tune - but I feel thats kinda cheating in a way. (It really wouldn't be cheating I guess - but I think a song has more value if you made all the parts yourself ya know?) There are no MIDI drums that can out do what the 880 can do. Plus, you heard how the 880 drums sound so natural - try that with MIDI drums!

I was really impressed on how natural the drums sounded out of that thing. For comparison, i tried out the Dr-3 and a Zoom model(can't remember which one). There was no comparison to the 880. The others sounded to processed, techy to me.

this is excellent, real live sort of feel to it, som good kit and played/programmed well :)
Thanks there SLoB! Thanks for listening.

It was a short song, I mostly wanted to get the recording process completed so I could see if it all would work. I'm working on a new song now - made with all my own patterns. Should be done in a couple days. (A Classic Rock Tune!)

Hey - good job man! Nice tune! I am impressed with that drum machine - I was reading that you can play your guitar through it and that it has amp models and effects - did you use that for your guitar tone on here too??? If so, its pretty sweet!

Thanks RJ.

Yes you can plug a Bass or a Guitar right into the 880 and jam away.

But no, I didn't use the built in guitar stuff on the 880. I played the guitar through my GNX1 - better sound out of that thing I think.

I tried some of the guitar sounds on the 880 - some are ok - others suck down hard. I may use the vocal presets on the 864 though - thats one thing my GNX1 doesn't have. But I haven't gotten that far yet. I'm still programming patterns for this new song I have cookin'.

Cool bro - well if you do record something using the built in amp modeler I would be interested in hearing it. Thats a nice little plus even if its not the best modeler. Myself, I am sure I would still just mike up the cybertwin se / marshall for serious recording, but for practicing or just recording ideas the modeler would probably be good enough.

PS: If your looking forsome one to collaborate with on your tunes, let me know. I wouldnt mind throwin' in a lick or two. Check out my tunes (below) if ya wanna hear my stuff / style. I'm all about rhythms and leads man!

I'm glad you dig it Yaka!

I was thinking of making some quick lead bursts like the kind you do Yaka. Inbetween the Indian sounding lines. But instead I rushed this through production.

But that doesn't mean this tune is dead - far from it! It may come back someday with those Yaka like mods. .
