Highline wires are singing
Trucks scream by in pain
Dead men did the building
Their testement remains
Dont matter what you're playing
We've all got our games
New concrete and asphalt
Wont fix their dirty stains

When minds begin to wander
To a certain spot they stray
Before the sleep takes over
For their own place to lay
With any inclination
Well I'll be back someday
Underneath the stanchions by the freeway

Made love to the perfect girl
Her old letters say
Underneath the stanchions by the freeway

Its quiet by the overpass
The mornings damp and gray
Sitting on the rail road tracks
Gripped by the need to pray
Memories take you down the line
Where flowers bloom each May
Underneath the stanchions by the freeway

Thoughts go home if given time
But dont have time to stay
Underneath the stanchions by the freeway
