Hello!
Me and Wahwah did a tribute for Steve Hackett's Firth on Fifth. We alternate solos and did a harmony at the end. Here's the time breakdown for clearer reference.

0:00-1:54 [wahwah]
1:48-2:59 [synthz]
3:00-4:09 [wahwah]
4:10-4:23 [synthz]
4:24-4:33 [wahwah]
4:34-4:58 [synthz/wahwah]
4:59-end [harmony]

Check it out and tell us what you think about it!

this gets the 5 stars from me too!.....one of rocks most underestimated guitarists Steve hackett..."Selling england by the pound" is THE essence of all guitar things British!..Once Collins came out from behind the drum kit it was all over for me!

Nice jam guys on one of the best old Genesis songs. (BTW, where´s Tony Banks?). For those who´d like to listen to the original stuff go grab "Selling England by the pound", it´s a masterpiece, as well as Foxtrot, Nursery Crime.

Wow! I told synthz not to expect too much as there wouldn't be a lot of guys into Genesis but maybe I'm wrong? I didn't really know this one (I love 'Spectral Mornings' and 'Voyage of The Acolyte' but can't honestly say I've kept in touch with his stuff) but synthz sent me the track and it all had that classic violin-esque type soloing sound...I used a Gary Moore setting! I put the fast tapping bit in one of the solo's to try and sound like a keyboard cos' synthz was trying to sound like a guitar!!!!

I remember going to see him at Boro Town Hall and I've never seen a pedal board that big...about the same size as me lounge!

Synthz and I are gnna do some writing as he's a very talented guy...I fancy a coup,e of 20 minute prog songs!!! :icon_head

Thanks for the listen. :thumb:

Hey..thank you very much for all the positive feedback. It's been great!! :)

I'll take credit for the mixing, keys & drum programming :) I'm glad you guys like the mix! I'm still learning though....
And i'm surprised a lot of people dig the song without any experience of the original tune.. that's very rewarding to us! Thank you!!
I think Chris did a really good job with the guitar parts! Love that violin-esque guitar tone w/ stereo delay... That's my favourite part in this this track!

Chris - " I put the fast tapping bit in one of the solo's to try and sound like a keyboard cos' synthz was trying to sound like a guitar!!!!"...LOL..that's cracking me up!! :p Honestly i'm sorta embarassed putting guitar leads next to a guitar virtuoso... :) Maybe i'll combine more with natural keys sound in the future :)

20 min prog song!!!! Yay!! :)

Thank you all for the compliments... we really appreciated them!! Thanks for checking the track!

JPF, I'm really thrilled you like this and I'd send you the original (if I had it!...synthz sent me a live verion that was only about 4 mins long so I had to improvise!) Thanks for the comments...they mean an awful lot cos this baord is awash with people who post stuff that makes me try harder and harder.

where you from in S.Florida mate...are we talking Miami, Pomano Beach, Islamorada? :icon_head

Don't be daft! Your playing is one of the reasons people check this out. They love the fact you make a keyboard talk...right guys?

Thanks Rythameen...I hope some peeps may check Steve Hackett out now. He's a well kept secret regardless of the fact he was in one of the biggest bands in the world in the 1970's. I recommend 'Spectral Mornings' which is from a long time ago but AWESOME. Check out the track 'Clocks' which is just awesome.

JPF, I said Pomano because we always stayed in the Best Western on the beach at Pompano Beach...love the place because it's quiter than Ft Lauderdale where we had a REALLY hard time over a meal at Ruth Christopher's Steak House. We were looking for a cheap meal and we ended up with the valet parking etc! So we're thinking this looks expensive and then the guy asked us whether we wanted 'thin or fat fries'. Now in the UK there would be about a 1/2" difference but NO, this being the ol' US, my wife got about a ton and a half of the thinnest fries on the planet...and I got two...about 7" thick :disbelief ...we didn't so much take a doggy bag as a rhino bag...and we could have fed most of the fish in Islamorada with what we took! We did laugh tho! Now we know to order ORDINARY!!!! :jot:
