Hey gang. Just digging through some folders on my hard drive and came across this recording (done about 4 or 5 years ago, before my old 350Mhz G3 Mac became an ancient relic of technology). For my final credits to graduate college, I took a video production class and got to use Media100 software program (this took place at Kansas University, hometown of A Koo Stick who probably recognizes this tune from my video project). The assignment was for someone in the class to "jack around" in one of the audio programs and come up with a "soundtrack" that was 2-3 minutes in length and could be absolutely anything. So I obviously jumped at that opportunity and volunteered myself to make the "soundtrack." So then, everyone was to make video interpretations of the one soundtrack. So, this was a really interesting thing to me because I got to see 6 people's visual interpretation of the music i made up. Some really differnt interpretation came of this. As soon as I can figure out some video stuff on the computer, I will post my video to this music, but this will do for now...

Ok, real quick, here's the scoop with this: The first half of the song is composed of cut/copy/paste jobs of the second half (in the middle of the song if fades to silence and then comes back in again. This break splits the tune into 2 halves). I took splices of the second half of the tune and re-ordered them to make the first half of the tune. Then I added keyboard stuff over the new song structure. Anyway, this is all me. I programmed the drum line from scratch on my drum machine (remember those?!? ) and played the bassline on my keyboard (this was before i got my bass). I hope to revisit this tune real soon.

Thank you Rhythameen. I appreciate you having a listen. I get the impression that, for you, listening to people's posts is a ritual similar to a person's morning coffee.

This is one of the first recordings I assembled via digital methods. I did it in SoundEdit 16 on my old 350Mhz G3 Mac  . It is basically like CoolEdit, with the exception that you cannot listen to previously recorded tracks while recording additional ones. Therefore I had to record everything on my 4-track cassette machine and transfer it to the computer as individual tracks and visually line them up based on the wave peaks. So glad I have new equipment these days.

Thanks for the comment. I will let you know when I rework this.

Thanks SG, my man. Yes, that was me on the piano riff in the second half, as well as anything else you hear. I am not a pianist or anything, but I know enough about chords and scales to learn how to play something in my head and record it if I practice it enough.. I don't write too many lyrics, but probably because i can't sing very well. I like Steely Dan type lyrics that are fun and playful (Kid Charlamagne is one of my faves, as far as lyrics go). I might have to work on some.

I tell ya who has a knack for lyrics is my buddy, Matt (A Koo Stick from this site). Badger him to post his original tune, "Bald-Headed Betty."

Loved the intro KC...(as you know I am partial to cool intro's) I felt as if during the beginning I could be walking up to a tall dark castle. Not sure of what is inside as I get my hand closer to my sword to prepare for a vicious battle to the death. It is like someone is thinking about life ..it's consequences and rewards.....and what life hold's for them after this obstacle (dark castle) .....Cool track man and please revisit this puppy!

Hey, thanks a lot, Mike for having a listen. I love your description of the visuals it gave you. I think you may need to take a little break from your gaming console though (;) ). For me, that is one of the best compliments i can get, is for someone to describe their mentalizations that came to them while listening to any of my tunage. My best art buddy Andy (check out his artwork/Flash animation, which blows my stuff away.... www.pandymotion.com), he used to send me descriptions to my tunes like the one you just gave and it was always fun to read. This is the same principle as the point of this soudtrack was to see multiple people's video interpretations to the same music. I wish I had copies of all the videos from my class.:(

Thanks gang (Zeppy, 3Fingers, SLoB), for having a listen and leaving some comments. This tune actually started as just the second half (beyond the fade part) as a repeating verse-chorus thing and i used bits and pieces from that part (copy/cut/paste) to put together the structure of the first half (and then added keyboard stuff). I don't know that I will work much with the first half, but I would like to develop the second half more. I will let y'all know when i do. Thanks again.
