I have not used the POD, but I have sung out of the V-amp2 and I used a setting called "tube pre-amp" with good results.
The POD has one, but I have never used it. My best recordings so far have come from Mic->4 track mixer->sound card->recording software. The effects are all from the recording software. Hope it helps.
