Another collab from a while ago which just worked so well. No-one got to hear each others stuff but it just gelled so well. We all come from the same area...me and Phil lived about 15 miles apart (before I went ''darn sarf'') and Danyboy is about 60 miles further up the road I reckon. If you haven't heard these guys play, then this is an ideal track to start.

Phil starts things off until around the 2 minute mark...very soulful with bits of Vai to my ears. Such a great player and I hope to get to see him play someday in the North East and have several ''beeya's'' together!

I carry it from there to around the 4 minute mark and had my Gary Moore hat on.

Dannyboy rounds things off and I remember him saying he wasn't a 100% about his stuff but this is still the best stuff I've heard from him...lots of feel, great bends; its all there.

The age range is so diverse as well. I'm 700 years old, Phil is in his 30's and Dannyboy is only in his early 20's...these guys have a great future ahead of them. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed playing it. :thumb:

lolol. DB is still a teenager and Phil is still in his 20's. but wahwah is around 700yrs :) I must say I was probably most impressed with danny on this because it is so considered but melody orientated. Not to take anything away from the massive performances from Phil and Wahwah though. I am actually shocked I missed this first time around. total northern soul guitar :thumb:

Excellent stuff here boys!!! ..... incredible tones and fluidity by all, as well as great FEEL..... 'cause IMO, when it comes to a slow smokey blues like this, i think one note with the right feel, can say as much as a thousand ill placed runs.... just enough breathing in all your playing to make it very enjoyable.....awesome job!!:icon_thum :icon_peac

no problem, I could only wish I could make music like that, maybe you can help me?

Could you possibly post some scales I can use to make a solo like that, or possibly tabs of scales?

I know the general blues scale, and the pentatonic.
Well, I'm not one for tab so that's out! When you say the general blues scale, how do you mean? Straightforward pentatonic? Or the 'blues note added'? This track would for the most part in a minor key (not sure what the track was in off the top of my head!)

For the most part, really WORK on your bends. Make sure they bend to the exact point you are aiming for or they'll be out of tune. Then work on your natural vibrato and let the thing sing...find a tone that lets it ring.

Learn how to do pinch harmonics because they WILL work in ballads as well as rockers.

Lastly (and most people may think bizarrely), think like a drummer. Make it all fit together...not so much regimental but think of what clever timings you can bring to your solo. You may not be able to play huge arpeggios BUT you will learn phrasing this way. Think Dave Gilmour and mix it up once you can achieve that.

Besides that, come round my house for a lesson at £25 an hour!!! :icon_thum

Not exactly sure, I just know it's a blues scale.

Well I guess you guys would rather not jam with me - thats just fine.

I guess there is sort of a invisible divide between the English doods on this site - and the American doods.

But I don't understand your comment here: "The age range is so diverse as well. I'm 700 years old, Phil is in his 30's and Dannyboy is only in his early 20's...these guys have a great future ahead of them. Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed playing it."

Great future in what, working at Wal-Mart? Playing the guitar? How is thier future so great? Does this website somehow make thier future great? I'm at a loss because if thier future is so great, why is it that I'm not hearing them on Top 40 radio?

I know a certain guitarist friend of mine who's future and talent are just as bright, if not more bright. But he's no more a Guitar Star than anyone here.

I don't care how great you are on guitar these days - it means very little to a music industry who only wants little girl acts and could give a rats ass if you can play Eruption or not.
