This one is for my Grandad who died a couple of weeks ago. I intended on singing but the lyrics are a bit sad and I can't do it. For now, this is an instrumental version.

Forgot to say, I did both the drums and bass on this...was one of those upside down tracks where I recorded the drums first, added a bass line and THEN came up with the melody. It's kinda humbling sometimes to do stuff that way and this came out as well as I'd hoped.

All the best Ernie.

Very impressive and touching. I actually didn't know what to expect but it works very well.

I remember reading that satriani wrote lyrics to his instrumentals to make him focus his playing a bit more - I think you have done that here whether knowingly or not.

I like this very much indeed, especially since it has been built from the ground up, so to speak. Beautiful tones and phrasing as always and I love the string noise on the silent passage.

Wow Chris! This is loaded and overflowing with feel!! Very touching and moving piece. Love the twins, and the licks. This is one of your best imo.
Easily 5 stars!! I wish you peace.

Thank you very much all. The sadness was as much for my Grandad (who was 88 and had a great innings) as for my little girl. The lyrics touched on him dying and her leaving home and how they would both be very sad...worst thing is, she's not even two yet and I'm fretting!

Seems to be a little more emotion in this than usual mate ... not surprising. I wish I'da been serious about playing again and had the means to record before my grandad left us in '04.

Sorry for your loss. Something we all have to go through sooner or later.

BTW, sounds great. I'm sure Ernie appreciates it.

Beautiful melodic playing there man, sorrow flows through it, and that justifies it all. One hell of a first listen today, I really enjoyed it, especially on those holded notes at around 2:58. :mix:

Hey Chris, really great expressive playing on this track mate. Loved the melodies. When loved ones pass away its always tough at first, but this is a great way to create something in memory and dedicated to your Grandad. All the best to you and your family. and I hope that you one day get round to doing the vocals for this cause it deserves to be completed. :thumb:
