I want to replace the tubes on my 5150 combo and i would like to get your opinion on wich ones to get? .......example Groove tubes,wich type would be great for the combo? JJ's?

I'll second the J.J.'s. I have them in mine and noticed a big improvement over the stock Sovtek's...


Make sure you get a matched pair..

I retubed mine with JJ's years agao and have never changed from that. They will warm up the tone a bit and take some of the harshness off. Great tubes. I have both pre and power JJ's in mine.

:yumyum: I only changed one tube in my 5150, and it is awesome now. I replaced the stock 12AX7A in V1 with a GT 12AX7R2. AWESOME!!! Of course, I had to swap the other 4 around a littl bit until it had trhe least noise and greatest tone, but Whooooah!!! This amp will sever you ears from your head if you're not careful!! Long Live the 5150!!!

What is that GT tube designed to do? Is it a warmer tone, or something different? Just curious.
