White Lion - Lonely Nights (Intro I)

WHITE LION - "Lonely Nights"

I have always found this to be an interesting score by Vito Bratta. His use of upper melodies in combo with power chords is uncanny.

I am tabbing this by ear for a student of mine and as I work it through it, I will continue to post what I come up with. As some of you may, or may not have noticed, there are very few quality White Lion tabs around (albeit for some of the more popular, mainstream, tunes like "Wait"). If you notice any inaccuracies please let me know and I'll correct them.

This first post covers the acoustic intro. The score starts in 4/4, but between the accoustic intro and the electric intro there is a 3/4 timing rest then it resumes back to 4/4. It is a bit odd to grasp at first without counting.

I tabbed this with Power Tab Editor 1.7

Verse

Here is the 1st Verse.

Note the natural harmonic in the last measure that is dropped with the tremelo. I believe that, in the recording, Vito is picking that harmonic at the 2nd fret. However, without a ton of gain and a hot pickup, it is very difficult to get that particualr Natural Harmonic to ring loudly enough so I am usuing the harmonic at fret 5 (Vito uses the 5th fret harmonic for sure in verse 2). It is up to you which harmonic you wish to pluck ;)

Pre Chorus

Here is the Prechorus. I think it is correct. Sounds good to me, anyhow :notme:

Note the use of these awesome sounding Power Chords by Vito. Some of them are strummed out a bit slowly rather than struck quickly so the listener gets the full powerful affect of the chord. Don't strum them too slowly however, or they will sound arpeggiated and that's not what you want.
