My favorite Bass Player is Cliff Burton. Billy sheehan is a close second.

Well of course I gotta throw in Geddy Lee to the mix (surprised he hasn't been mentioned yet). My only minor complaint about Billy Sheehan is....doesn't he play with a pick instead of using his fingers? Nothing wrong with that by any means, and he has monsterous chops, but I respect bass players more who play with their fingers vs. using a pick. It's just my personal preference. It sounds better to my ears. Geddy is the bomb when it comes to straight forward riffing in fingerstyle. :rock:

Yeah, woops. I did forget about him. He is a MONSTER player!!! And also he is creative in his interpretation of cover tunes during solo spots.

I can't believe no one has said john pattituci ! prolly one of the most influential players in the last 30 years or so. . the guys a monster ! ... not really in the rock world more in jazz and fusion .. but i've heard stuff that has totally blown me away as well as his natural feel in tunes and creativeness...he is the man !

There's loads of players in that world that are amazing players mate...who was the black guy used to play with Al DiMeola? Just listed one's that had had some significance to me rather than just amazing chops. :thumb:
