So, my first electric guitar was a Fender Strat, and when I first held it, I thought all guitars after this would be heavy... My next guitar was a Les Paul: It was WAY lighter than my Strat! I have eight electrics now, and my Strat is still the heaviest of all my guitars!

As far as the guitar's tone, the Strat sounds great, like any other Strat. I mean, it's not Pre-CBS, but it's wonderful.

You are mad. :banghead:

Unless you got a hollow LP then strats are lighter.

No, I have held many other LPs, and my Strat is much heavier than any of them. It's literally the heaviest guitar I have ever held. I actually don't recall ever playing a Strat that wasn't heavy.

I just weighed some of my guitars.

My Fender Strat: 7.10 pounds

My 74 Gibson Les Paul: 8 pounds

Strange... It's only a pound heavier, but it feels a hell of a lot lighter!

Since I'm a physics nerd, I sort of guessed this before: The only reason it feels lighter (and doesn't kill my back) is because of the way the weight is distributed...

My PRS was the same damn weight as the Strat, and also feels heavier than the Les Paul. My SG, which feels the same weight as my LP, is 6 pounds.

I don't know, but I think from the weight it could be oak.:coolugh:

I'm not sure... Let me look up my model...

Funny, I think it may be Maple, which is usually just for the neck. It was made in '04, but it seems so different from the other models off that period.

EDit: I am refering to the Strat.

The LP is mahogany with a maple cap. It is possible that your strat is maple, but you would have to research that quite a bit...

It's funny that you mention the PRS' weight. I remember the first time I tried out one of the high end solid bodies (the 3500$ ones). I didn't think anything was heavier than the classic LP's, but that was probably the heaviest guitar I've ever strapped on.

When I say my LP is Maple, I am telling you that it is Maple. My model is bassier sounding than most LPs I have played, and my Strat is the same compared to other strats.
