This is my first post here, so hello! I just bought a Boss DS1 distortion pedal to use with my Marshall MG15CD practice amp. I'm wondering, since I'm new to using any effects at all, what settings would be best to use on both the DS1 and the Marshall amp? I like to play anything from 70's classic rock to 80's heavy metal to neo-classical rock like Yngwie Malmsteen.
So, please post your MG series Marshall amp tone settings AND your Boss DS1 distortion pedal settings for different rock styles please! I would love to simulate something like Yngwie's sweet guitar tone which I suspect may be more 70-ish rock than the 80's, if that is possible. I almost bought the his signature pedal, the YJM308, but it is meant as a overdrive unit for tube amps and was afraid it wouldn't work as good with a solid-state amp. I've been hearing good things all around about the DS1 so I bought one of those instead.
(Note - When I hooked it up, I set my amp to clean channel so I have the amp's tone settings to what sounds good on clean playing so when I switch the distortion off it sounds okay for acoustic parts. That the correct thing to do, right? I also tried to set the pedal's level and amp's clean volume to sound aproximately the same loudness per the owner's manual too.)
Thanks in advance for your help!
