While there are certainly other hosts out there I've yet to find one that has that has the benefits FF offered that are important to me.
1) Lifetime membership at a reasonable price.
2)Unlimited amount of uploads that are permanent.
3)Files are searchable by me and other members-no links need to be supplied.
I found FF the only host that fit the bill. I would consider others but so far none meet those criteria.

And now I can't get anything off Mega. I am being prompted to download the desktop app which I already have.

I would say time to go back to trade by mail but in the US we can't get packages from overseas anymore.

more likely, it depends on which server it's on & whether or not it's affected by whatever glitch...

you have to realize, that, they have a complex site, that handles a heavy volume of traffic. Imagine having hundreds of thousands of drives hooked up to your computer & having them all sync'd up, having security, managing subscriptions, vs free accounts, vs non-members.

I'm not a FF fan, but, w/ my certain (limited) website managing/admin experience, I couldn't imagine the headaches they are having right now. It sucks, but, what can you do?

Just hope they get it resolved quick & make it up to their (paid) customers...

I just did what I'd call an instant download not requiring a sign-in (because i had the link copied elsewhere but didn't know it would as described) and job done. So I thought I'd try another link which is a slow DL tried it 5 times cos after the countdown tapped the prompt and sits there twidling it's thumbs.

JD works with FF now. I've been using it for the last few days. The problem I have is when I am uploading multiple files, there is a coincidental crash of the server. The egocentrist in me says I am causing this. Shame on me. The pragmatist says no, there are thousands of users that simultaneously overwhelm FF's servers. That seems much closer to the reality of the sitch. Meanwhile, whereas when an upload is complete, I can easily move them to a designated folder, when the crash happens, all my uploads are relegated to the "root" folder and cannot be moved. That function does not (yet) exist. It should, but it doesn't.

Anyway. I have reuploaded nearly the entire Ultimate Kissology with (so far) no problems or broken links. We'll see how long this can last.
