That 7/9/74 concert is the only time I ever heard Mr. S take the stage with an agenda. He made it clear from the early part of the performance that he was not there to sing that evening, but to vent. It is an incredibly historic piece of his history.

JULY 11TH

Sorry folks, a little late today and things are a little sparse. There are a couple of radio show for this date but I could not track them down. The only concert I have for this date is an oddity. It's actually from a Judy Garland concert. Sinatra and others join her on stage but Sinatra does not sing. He and others introduce some celebrities in attendance.

Judy Garland concert in Long Beach, California, July 11th, 1955

JULY 13TH

Sinatra made his first two commercial recordings with Harry James on this date in 1939, "From The Bottom of My Heart" & "Melancholy Mood". As those are licensed releases, I won't be posting those today but do yourself a favor and give them a listen if you have them in your collection. 76 years later and we're still talking about the scrawny kid from Hoboken.

To Be Perfectly Frank, July 13th, 1954

Hi Scobey,

many thanks once again for everything you've provided.

One small correction (I think) as it pertains to the TBPF show, my database shows that one is from April 27, 1954:

04-27-54 15 R Hollywood TO BE PERFECTLY FRANK - AFRTVS #63

FS Everything Happens To Me
Leroy Anderson Serenata
Lena Horne ‘Deed I Do
FS Violets For You Furs (Capitol)

That 1967 Philly concert is a blast! The setlist is amazing and you can really hear Buddy Rich playing those drums (Under my skin, that's life and mostly all the other ones). I got goosebumps when I heard that scream from the crowd after he started Strangers in the night, I never heard him sing it live in those years. If they have a professional recording of this night, and at this point I'm pretty sure they don't, I think it is something they should really put out there, especially this year.

I'm actually going with a more accurate database that takes the date from the scripts of the show. Many of the TBPF shows have been given incorrect dates over the years. July 13th, 1954 is the correct date for this show as it was previously mislabeled as April 27th, 1954.

Buddy is not playing behind Mr. S. That is Irv Cotler. Buddy never played behind him in concert.
