Not a traditional matrix in the sense of blending the soundboard with the audience sources throughout the entire track, I only blended in the audience source where there was prominent applause from the crowd, or where I thought the sound benefited from a matrix. The soundboard sounded so good on it's own that I thought a traditional matrix, unless carefully done, would only take away from the soundboard, not add to it. For the most part there was already such a good balance to the soundboard source on it's own, so for me it just wasn't worth it to mix it all the way through, I experimented early on, but I just didn't like my results. I carefully applied noise reduction on "CD's 2 & 3" to remove some light hiss during the quiet sections (it appeared to already be done to "CD1") and then I added a slight reverb to the soundboard source to "warm" the sound just a bit. I also added the ending applause of Kashmir and the introduction to No Quarter from the audience source that was missing from the soundboard source. I then EQ'd the final "mix", reducing frequencies around 50hz to take away just a little of the "boom" of the bass. I then boosted the frequencies around 10,000hz to give the drums a little more sharpness, as well as a few more adjustments on certain tracks.
All Edits were done in Adobe Audition 3.0
I worked on Rock & Roll to try and reduce the overloaded sound that comes in briefly on the soundboard.....I think it sounds a little better now.
I also worked on Sick Again where the guitar/band seems to fade a bit in the mix leaving Plant out in front briefly, I think it's improved somewhat, but it still could be better.
I hope you all enjoy this, I have.
Thanks to Led Zepelin and thanks to the Tapers.
