ELVIS (AI) 'Poor Man's Gold': Back in 1969 Elvis tried to record the song 'Poor Man's Gold' at Chips Moman's Memphis Sessions. On January 22, having just completed the vocal overdub on 'Don't Cry Daddy', Elvis attempted his overdub on Mac Davis' 'Poor Man's Gold'. Unfortunately the sound of a fire engine outside the American Sound studio caused Elvis to start giggling and the take was abandoned.
The 15 seconds of Elvis' vocal has been officially released but of course was never competed - Until now!
EIN has to add that EAP's Jamie Aaron Kelley released his own excellent version of 'Poor Man's Gold' back in 2002 on his 'Unfinished Business' CD. Well worth checking out.
Plenty of EIN readers have written to us about this great version, albeit noting that we do NOT need poor quality "Elvis Presley A.I." versions of every crappy song out there!
This was Unfinished Business and it's great to hear completed.
EIN thanks Dave Wood for the word-up.

The excellent "Elvis Archival Preservation Society" have recently published the "Elvis Presley A.I." version and it is excellent.
