Thanks again!

I stand corrected on these:
Rush - 1986-03-31 - E. Rutherford, NJ - Twin Meadows Pt.1 - DR 33186
Rush - 1986-04-01 - E. Rutherford, NJ - Twin Meadows Pt.2 - DR 33186

I have them both, they just weren't marked DR in my collection. They will be included in the next batch I put out.

This one however is a Rush Signals Production.
1988-02-03 - San Diego, CA - Look the Storm in the Eye.
Which I d/l'd the artwork for just to verify what it was.
Oh, ok! I must've read wrong or thought it was DR for some reason :p I will upload the master recording to the lossy forum shortly. I grabbed the master from here I think so it might still be available in lossless if people search for it.

As for my Lossy stuff, you think I should bother upping it? I gladly will but it takes forever on my end so if there isn't any real interest... ya dig? :p

Hi, like yourself, I convert all my flac to 320 and would appreciate greatly your lossy files (saving me hours!!). I understand of course, if I'm the only one showing an interest you may feel the effort involved is not worth it.

A quote from a MASSIVE contributor to what I hold dear in my heart.

ldb!!! ( who NEVER shared 1 Rush show, btw!) but his sentiment I agree with wholeheartedly...

"DO NOT share this music on mp3, just convert it for your own use. Sharing mp3's is the right way to make me stop sharing music here".

I am tired of downloading pre-converted files posing as lossless because they are in flac!
One reason why I love to have .shn files.
Being in that they are in their original form, as they were intended, and those that know any shit about dealing with them is wonderful for this process, otherwise being desirous of wanting to deteriorate the integrity of the them by converting them. PLEASE Do this for personal use only...

I have tried to answer the call for those who have had trouble dealing with this codec, I will do whatever I can to help those that have difficulty with .shn moving forward. Many of these DR releases are in .shn. Ask yourself why? Because ultimately this original format preserves the intentions of the providers of these sources. All the work we now listen to is because of those that came before us.

If you don't have enough storage space I suggest you are in the wrong business of collecting....

Sue me, I'm a purist...

I'm not saying don't do what you will with these files, just keep it private?

If warewolf95 wants to share his entire collection in the lossy forum I for one would never say this was an endeavor that was to be frowned upon or worthless. Contradiction in what I've just expressed? Absolutely!, because what should be self evident by this point is I am ultimately about sharing as mush as possible... (!?) No?

Enjoy...

Update to this thread arrives soon with an addition of 10 threads uploaded by none other than mediaadiact! Just waiting on approval from him to post his live links.

Great post! See, its a super fine line to tread - I respect the original desires to keep things lossless, yet there is still a desire to share stuff as well. I'd love to share stuff but its all lossy, so its.... I think a middle ground would be to keep the shares private instead of making a thread? Like, if someone prefers the lossy I can pm them a link or something?

Any thoughts? I really REALLY don't want to step on toes and totally understand and respect the Keep It Lossless rules. :)

Hell, that's pretty much why I've waited years to post anything - I never had anything worth posting lossless. All thoughts and recomendations welcome. I love and respect this place/the taping community/tapers. Its an absolutely incredible hobby to have and the last thing I want to do is disrespect anyone.

I'm probably a bit late on this but...I'm good with "lossy' files. I think it goes without saying lossless are always the optimal choice. But if it's a good show & not available in that format, then bring on the lossy. Better to have than not to have.

I keep flipping back and forth on if I'm gonna post my collection to the Lossy forum or just send it to you guys via PM. But it's definitely comin' - I told another person, gimme a few weeks and I'll have a link for you :)

Also, great job Scottie! Fillin' in more gaps on my end! :D

Like you & Scottie_62, I believe in keeping it "lossless", In my case, I only make them lossly when I want to hear them on my phone as I commute to work or a drive in the car.

I would also agree that it's quite a fine line between posting "lossy" or "lossless". I guess the way I see it, if the moderators have set up a lossy area to post stuff, then it ok to use it. Speaking solely for myself, I would tend to use it to post show that are not in the best of quality but may be of some interest to people (2ns gen AUD & the like). If it's a SUPER good SBD show (or something super-rare that I think people who like to hear/have), then I'll make them lossless so you get the best quality possible. Maybe a good rule of thumb is "use it but don't abuse it"??? :)

Great point! :)

Personally, I have the opposite view :p

If I was only going to post certain things lossy, it would be the commonly found stuff.

For instance, finding Milwaukee 86, Largo 84, Anaheim 81 etc in lossless is as easy as looking out the window.

Finding obscure B- audience recording from 1987 in lossless, that's a different matter, lol

But yea, use it don't abuse it. I like that. :)

Thank you for your time and effort on the great Rush.

1983-09-22 - A Scalpers Paradise
anybody?
I have this and will post it, but sort of feel gratuitous in doing so while attempting to complete this series.
"Scalper...did you call me a scalper?". Sorry, I couldn't resist quoting from "Fast Times At Ridgemont High"!
Please light my dube, dude
I think scottie_62 already posted this show. Couldn't tell you if it's from the same source as yours though.
Don't be so formal, it's Scottie ;)
And I have.... thanks for pointing this out. And, you're right by asking if it's the same source. Can someone clarify?
Thank you for your time and effort on the great Rush.
:D
It's not moving fast enough IMO.
But, Why all the (rush) in finishing all of this? haha
